Lockwood
Design and Construction Co. Inc. is a family managed business serving the
Delaware area. In 1975, Don H. Lockwood, started this company by
commercially designing buildings. Just a year later, the corporation began
constructing the buildings it designed. In 1989, Don A. Lockwood, a graduate of
the University of Delaware, joined the company in a managerial position after
many years of on the job training.

The major portion of the Lockwood
business is within a 35-mile radius encompassing the area from Dover, Delaware to
Salisbury, Maryland. We build an average of 25 to 30 homes a year with 85 to 90 percent of
our plans being designed in-house. We provide an in-house showroom and The latest in
state-of-the-art technology for Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
The atmosphere in our office unlike most companies, is relaxing and
inviting....welcoming new customers with a warm greeting and a
smile. We treat customers as if we've known them for years,
and our clients remain our friends even after the job is completed,
which is rarely seen in other companies today.
 65 to 70 percent
of our business are permanent residences, while the remainder are beach homes for those
who want a second dwelling and commercial buildings for local businesses.
All types of homes (contemporary, ranch, and colonial) are popular in today's market, and
there are many opportunities to build them in the beach area. One special feature, located
at our Milton base, is a 17,000 square foot shop that we can construct a large portion of
the structure in, thus protecting the product from inclement weather. Another added
benefit of choosing Lockwood Design and Construction is that we have storage facilities
(Lock, Etc.) and rental homes for those in transition. If interested in renovation or
commercial construction, we do that also.
Our involvement in the
commercial construction business in the Sussex County area has been steadily
growing each year. We have designed and constructed for businesses, both small and
large, as well as the construction and design of town homes and condominiums in our area.
In today's market, people do their homework. Buyers are very intelligent. We have an
outstanding reputation with the banks in the area. Our masterpieces have been featured on
the cover of Homes and Land, a national and
regional building and real estate magazine, as well as Southern Delaware Magazine and a variety
of local newspapers. We have satisfied customers who feel we are a "One Stop
Shop". From three dimensional floor plans, to the electrical work, to the final

entire process of building their dream homes.
We've had an excellent growth in our business of 10 to 15 percent each year.
